Leeds United have announced that their FA Cup third-round tie against Newport County will be televised by the BBC.
The clash, which will be held on January 7 at midday, will be broadcast live on BBC Wales.
TV scheduling when it comes to football can cause controversy, particularly among the supporters.
From the broadcasters’ perspective, they select games involving clubs that will appeal to TV audiences and have preferred kickoff times that will bring in the most watchers.
In this case, Leeds’ tie against Newport has been chosen to kick off at 12pm on Sunday, which for some fans could cause problems.
With the game being held at Rodney Parade in South Wales, handfuls of Leeds supporters think that the early schedule will cause havoc in terms of travel.
Others, though, were more drawn to the fact that the game will be aired by BBC Wales…
Meanwhile, 12-time FA Cup winners Manchester United will not be televised when they take on Derby County.
It is the first time since 2005 when an FA Cup match involving the Red Devils was not broadcast live.
