The FA announced earlier in the week that former Bayern Munich boss Tuchel has been chosen to lead England into the 2026 World Cup following Gareth Southgate's departure in July. The Three Lions took their time before landing on a successor, placing Lee Carsley in interim charge.

Tuchel's appointment on Wednesday came after a quick turn of events in the week prior. England legend Lineker claimed other top managers were on their shortlist, revealing: "It was confirmed that in the summer they spoke with Pep Guardiola and, as far as I know, also with Ancelotti."

Ancelotti has now dismissed these suggestions made by Lineker, but did take the time to praise former rival Tuchel.
When asked if he had been contacted over the job, Ancelotti said: "Nothing with the English federation. For me, they’ve hired a very good manager, tactically very strong. Good luck to him."
