As reported in an exclusive by The Sunday Express, Arsenal’s plans to transform the club should Arsene Wenger leave are set to be ruined by Barcelona.
What’s the story?
Wenger has yet to commit his future to the club next season and it’s raised questions that he could finally be ready to step aside this summer and let a new man take charge of the North London side.
The Express report that to that end, Arsenal are already in advanced talks with Juventus manager Massimiliano Allegri.
However, the paper also say that Barcelona are themselves thinking making a move for Allegri as they consider the future of current manager Luis Enrique.
Losing out on their top target should Arsene Wenger leave would be a huge blow to the Gunners.
Why Allegri?
Massimiliano Allegri is one of the most respected managers in Europe due to his success with AC Milan and Juventus in Serie A. Since 2011 he’s won three Serie A titles between the two clubs, two Coppa Italias and even finished as runners up in the 2014/15 UEFA Champions League.
That’s the kind of success and competitiveness that Arsenal fans crave more than ever after another season that appears to have gone off the rails under Arsene Wenger.
A move for Allegri would be very exciting for the Emirates loyal and if they can successfully beat Barcelona to the punch then the Gunners could be set for an exciting 2017/18 season.
