With Joe Hart returning to his parent club after a disappointing loan spell at the London Stadium and Adrian never quite being consistent enough to truly convince as West Ham’s No.1, signing a new goalkeeper this summer will surely be one of Manuel Pellegrini’s priorities.
In fact, rumour has it the Chilean has already drawn up a shortlist of five goalkeepers he wants the club to sign during the transfer window and while the identities of those remains unknown, Tottenham’s Michel Vorm represents an interesting option.
The Dutchman’s contract with West Ham’s bitter rivals is up this summer and although he’s been stuck in Hugo Lloris’ shadow during four seasons at Spurs, making 43 appearances in total, the 6 foot shot-stopper more than proved himself in the Premier League in a previous spell with Swansea City.
Aged 34, Vorm should have a few years left and the fact he’s available for free could save Pellegrini a small fortune in the transfer market, which can then be spent on improving other areas of the first team.
So, West Ham fans, would you back a swoop for Vorm? Let us know by voting below…
